moving series, 2021-24

This is a series that was inspired by a conversation between some friends and myself. We spoke about always being prepared to pack and continue our journey.

Oceans Apart is a series of pieces that express ideas of separation between families living in different lands. Water is what separates and unites us, therefore it is used as the main setting in this series. 

The sacred glasses are glasses that I broke with a hammer and painted portraits of family members that are oceans apart. Each portrait was layered with resin and filled with water. 

This painting collages is an experimentation of digital art, photos and physical paintings combined to create a piece containing information about forced migration, poverty, religion and social-political issues of Cuba. 

This is a group of paintings whose only commonality is that they were made during confinement in the first year of COVID-19. 

Two paintings about society ignoring the amount of black people (parents, brothers, cousins, friends, etc.), getting murdered everyday.  

Series of paintings dedicated to a vision of our future, and that of future generations, if we continue mistreating nature.
